On New Years day I went to see Bumblebee the movie at the cinemas. Bumblebee comes from the Transformer series and is set as Bumblebee origin story.
When the move begins the Auto-bots are fighting the Decepticons on their home planet Cyber-tron. The Auto-bots leader, Optimus Prime gives Bumblebee the mission to head to planet Earth in hopes of escaping the Decepticons and living in peace. Upon Bumblebees arrival to Earth a Decepticon soon catches up to him and an epic duel erupts in the midst of an army base. Many soldiers are injured and killed during the battle which leads America’s leaders to hunt Bumblebee and any other alien robots living upon Earth. During the battle Bumblebee loses his voice box and his memory system causing him to be unaware of his mission that was given to him by Optimus Prime.
Bumblebee losing his voice box shows the viewers why Bumblebee was unable to speak during the transformers series. Further into the movie Bumblebee meets an 18 year old girl who loves fixing cars as her late father did. The girl soon realises that Bumblebee is in fact a robot not a car and they soon develop an inseparable bond of friendship.
I won’t discuss the whole story because I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but ultimately this movie overcame my expectations. During the Transformers series the movies seemed to get worse and worse as they were realised. Transformers 1 was an exceptional movie with the second falling behind and the 3rd, 4th and 5th being worse then each other. Bumblebee was just as good as the original Transformers, if not better. The story line was fantastic and exciting. They matched up Bumblebee the movie to the original Transformers very well with no obvious mistakes, such as when Bumblebee turned into the Camaro as the end of the movie to disguise himself then in the Transformers movie when we are first introduced to Bumblebee as an old Camaro.
Overall I give this film 5/5 stars, I have nothing negative to say about it.
